Jacy just got out of the tub and was helping me comb her hair. She finally has enough to make a mohawk curl!!!

Here is Jacy with the princess house she built, before it was destroyed! =) Just before Christmas the Campbell side of the family gets together and makes gingerbread houses. Each family decorates one, and make them as elaborate (and target friendly) as possible. We enjoy looking at them during the Christmas holiday, and when New Years come around we enjoy them by destroying them with slingshots, rocks, BB guns, paintball guns, and one year even rocket engines!!!

Yesterday Jacy made a new discovery... her TONGUE! Now she is sticking her tongue out at us everytime we look at her.

Jacy isn't able to get into the standing position by herself, but once we stand her up next to the couch she is able to stand and play with toys. She looks so cute in her Sunday best!

Since the surgery, Jacy has started showing a lot of improvement in her dexterity. She is using her thumb and finger more, to pick up smaller objects. She has now mastered picking up cheerios... and some of them even make it into her mouth!

Jacy is recovering well from her shunt surgery. You can kind of see the outline of the shunt in this picture. In the beginning it seemed like a HUGE bump on her head, but the swelling continues to go down, and we are getting so used to it that if it weren't for the bandages, we wouldn't even notice it. We go to the Dr. tomorrow (1/11/06) to have the bandages removed. We are so proud of her-what a trooper she has been!

December 31, 2005 Dear Family and Friends, First, a huge thank you to all who sent well wishes to Jacy for her surgery yesterday. We are happy to report that she is now home and her recovery is going great! We checked into Phoenix Children’s Hospital yesterday (Dec. 30th) at 12:30pm. After over 6 hours of no food, she was still a happy, smiling baby. She has spoiled us! Jay and I were with her when they sedated her, and we got to give her a big kiss before heading to the waiting area. First stop was an MRI to get one last check of her brain before the surgery. The information provided in the MRI prompted the Dr. to slightly change the game plan for the surgery. The original plan was to insert a Ventriculo-peritoneal Shunt (VP Shunt), which is tubing that is connected to the ventricle and down to the abdominal cavity where the extra fluid would be absorb. However, the MRI showed that Jacy had an increasing amount of fluid in the area above her brain, which was more of a concern...
