Jake is 5 years old! Where does the time go!   He was so excited for his birthday.   He got to take cupcakes to his friends at school.   We held our traditional birthday dinner at texas roadhouse so that he could sit on the saddle, and then some of his aunts, uncles, and cousins came over for a small family birthday party complete with an “avengers” cake.     He loves all things boy!   Robots, guns, swords, star wars, super heros, hot wheels, pirates, Legos, and running, jumping & always climbing!   He is always full of energy and laughter.   He has a very creative imagination and can entertain himself for hours with his toys.       His birthday is on October 2 nd , but He wanted to have a costume birthday party. So, on October 27 th we held a Halloween carnival party at our house.   He got to celebrate with all of his cousins and some friends.   They got to play games like tossing the ball into the trick...

Jessie Turns 1!

Jessie   is One! I can’t believe that Jessie already a year old!   The time has gone by SO fast!!!   She is such a happy baby, very mellow, and is always smiling. A True Delight!   At her 1 year check up appointment she weighed in at a whopping 17lbs 3oz and was 29 1/2 inches long. She is so petite that she has fallen off the growth chart, but the dr. isn’t concerned.   She is reaching all her milestones and progressing perfectly!   She started walking at about 10 ½ months, while we were at Roosevelt, and had 6 very busy teeth!   She loves to look at books, eat, and be with her older brother and sister-even when they are less than excited that she is getting into their stuff. In true Simmer style we celebrated her 1st birthday at Texas Road House.  Everyone gave her a loud "YEEHAW" shout out and she LOVED her birthday cake!  She was not afraid to dig right in, and when I tried to take her plate away when...

HAPPY NEW YEAR-2012

Image
WOW... without intention I took a break from blogging for the entire year of 2011!  Normally at the end of the year I print my blog into a book to keep as our family journal... I have a lot of catching up to do for last year! 2011 was a wonderful year for us!  Here are some highlights: Jay and I got to spend Valentines weekend in Las Vegas!  It was Jay's firs time to Vegas.  We had a great time and enjoyed going to watch the Blue Man Group!  Our favorite part though was the dancing fountain at the Belagio! In February Jacy had the opportunity to meet Dr. Nyberg, the Dr. who originally diagnosed her Spina Bifida when I was pregnant with her.  It was a wonderful and emotional experience.  This was the Dr. who originally told us that Jacy's quality of life would be so poor that his medical advice was to terminate the pregnancy and try again.  We are SO thankful that we didn't take that advice, and so is he.  Jacy story h...

East Valley Tribune-story about Jacy's fetal surgery

The results of the study regarding fetal surgery for babies with Spina Bifida have been published! We were so excited that the results showed an overwhelming benefit of prenatal surgery! We feel so blessed to have been a part of the study and we love to share Jacy's story with others so that they can have some hope when facing the same diagnoses! Since the results have been published, the information is being shared through all types of media outlets. This was a story in the East Valley Tribune today, March 6, 2011, sharing Jacy's story. We were also involved in an interview for a story featuring the surgery and Jacy for channel 3 news, that should air this next week! Prenatal surgery offers hope for babies with severe spina bifida By Michelle Reese, Tribune East Valley Tribune Jacy Simmer loves to dance, twirl and sing. She can run, jump and climb. We had another wonderful lunch with Pardner and Grandma Greta, and my brother Justin's family at the Mesa Country Club. Every year we come here to do some christmas crafts, play in some snow, and SEE SANTA! Jake asked Santa for Thomas the Train toys and Jacy asked for a dog and Barbies. Thanks Pardner and Grandma for including us on this special day!

We are EXPECTING!

Image
Christmas came a little early for our family this year! After a few months of hoping, we learned on December 1st that we were expecting BABY #3! I love to find new ways to announce to my family that I am pregnant. This time, we had a great dinner together and after dinner I casually said, "Oh, I got us a cake for dessert". I set it down on the table and just waited for the response! It was great! Jay shouted out, "REALLY!?!" and that spiked Jacy and Jake's curiosity. So, Jay read the poem on the cake out loud... "Tweedle Dum, Tweedle Dee, Here Comes Baby #3"! Jacy just shreeked out in excitement and Jake, well he doesn't really get it yet. =) We are so excited!
