Simmer Family Milestones
Hello!!!
We wanted to take a minute to share with you all the exciting news that has been going on these past couple of weeks! This Simmer family has been very busy!
As many of you know Jay has been in school and training to be a helicopter pilot over the past 2 years. After may obstacles Jay has reached a huge milestone.. He flew SOLO in the helicopter on Friday September 2ND!!! (The picture from his solo flight is posted below) His goal is to finish up his private license by October 31. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HIM!!!
I am in my 3rd week of Fall Semester at Arizona State University. I was lucky enough to find enough needed classes that were available on-line so that I can do my homework during Jacy’s naps! =) I continue to work part-time from home as well as part-time in the office. We have come up with quite a system- Jacy and I meet Daddy in the parking lot at work when he gets off and we do the “parking lot baby swap”. I go into work while they get some Daddy-Daughter time for a couple of hours. I know that they both benefit from having some special time together!
Now on to the most important news.. Jacy! She has reached many milestones of her own over these past couple of weeks. According to our scale she weighs about 12.5lbs and has the cutest little chucky legs that made it necessary for her to graduate to size 2 diapers!!! She can now hold her head up very well and has good head control. She has started really “talking” (babbling) to us and apparently has some great stories to tell. She really enjoys telling bedtime stories! (She really gets babbling when she is tired). Her little arms have gotten strong enough to pull on one of her toys hard enough to make the music start playing… she was shocked the first time that happened! She is also showing good strength in her legs and pushes herself around a little bit during “tummy time”. She has also started on baby cereal with a spoon-What a mess!!! =) and she helps hold her own bottle sometimes. Jacy had her first physical therapy session (the others have been evaluations) and she gets an A+! She did awesome! The therapist showed us some exercises that will help strengthen Jacy’s shoulder muscles which will then assist her in rolling over and sitting up by herself. The Therapist will be coming to our home once a week, but we are do to sessions with Jacy 4-5 times a day. It is fun to be involved in the therapy and we can already see a difference! We are so thankful for the early intervention program that is providing this needed therapy.
Jacy continues to melt our hearts with everything that she does. She is amazing and we are so grateful to have her in our lives.
We hope that you are your families are doing well!
Love you to all!
Jody
