The 3-Day

During the first weekend in November my sister, Janell, and I did our part to help raise awareness for Breast Cancer and Spina Bifida. I walked in honor of Jacy and friends Kirstyn, Faith, Gillian, and Titus who are all children with Spina Bifida, and for friends Diane and Carla who are both Breast Cancer Survivors!

Together we raised $4,401.25 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in research and raising awareness. We also raised $1,015.00 for the Pediatric Neurological Surgery Program at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). This is a program with pediatric doctors whose specialty training has prepared them to treat the most complex disorders that can affect a child's brain and spinal cord. This program has benefited those with Spina Bifida, and has the potential of helping others, like our friend Jayden who suffers from seizures.

O
ur experience during the walk was amazing. The outpour of support and spectators cheering us on was awesome! The streets we walked were lined with supporters holding up signs, handing out candy, and giving us "high-5" as we walked by. There were people handing us otter pops and others with spray bottles and huge misting machines to help keep us cool as we walked. There were also two ladies who gave all the walkers a 1-minute calf massage! It was great! We had themed rest stops where we were able to grab snacks along the way. One of the stops was "Hooterville". We also came across the Boobalicious Beauty Pageant Contestants! The streets were filled with cars decorated in all pink, in honor of Breast Cancer awareness, who honked when driving by. The supporters truly made this a memorable experience!

I was grateful for the opportunity to support my family and friends in their fight, and celebrate their courage. For all of you who gave a donation to help these two wonderful causes, thank you so much! It wouldn't have been possible without you!
