Easter 2009

Happy Easter! What a wonderful Easter we had together today! The kids woke up to find that the Easter bunny did in fact leave them some treats and they thought that was pretty awesome! In addition to the treats they found in the baskets Jacy had also dyed 5 eggs at school this week, and the bunny had hid those in our living room for her to find. That bunny was pretty sneaky with a couple of them! After breakfast it was off to church. I always love Easter Sunday because they always have the most beautiful musical numbers!!! After church we came home to have some lunch and then the kids got to get started on the chocolate bunnies... Can someone say sugar overload! I think I went into sugar shock just looking at them! After the cleanup we headed out back to play and realized that the Easter bunny had hidden a bunch of eggs around the backyard as well... what a fun Easter egg hunt that was! While we sat around the table for dinner we read a children's book about Easter. It is amazing to hear some of the questions that Jacy's asks. Those little minds want to know! Once everyone was ready for bed we snuggled on the couch and watched an animated children's video about Easter and the resurrection of Christ. I think it helped Jacy put faces to the names that we had read about in the storybook.
While chocolate bunnies and peeps are inevitable on Easter I hope that you were able to take some time out of the day to remember why we celebrate Easter. Remember our Savior Jesus Christ and the sacrifice he made to suffer for our sins so that we might live with our Father in Heaven again. As we talked about the Easter story with Jacy tonight it was touching to see her go to bed sad (crying) because Jesus was on the cross. I can't wait until she understands what a wonderful and amazing act that was... that he did for HER and all of us.
