Jay's 1st Surgery!
On Tuesday March 2nd Jay was complaining all day about terrible stomach cramps. He thought that maybe he was just really dehydrated and needed to drink more Gatorade and water. 
The cramps continued for 2 full days. By Thursday night (March 4th) his insensitive wife (me) said, "OK... either make an appointment with the Dr. or stop whining and get in the car because we have errands to run!" He tried to quickly get up to load the kids in the car when a cramp hit so severe that it stopped him in his tracks. I had enough! Within 20 minutes (around 6:30pm) we had a sitter at the house and I took Jay to Urgent Care. Little did we know that they wouldn't be able to help at all because they don't have any MRI scanning equipment so they referred us to the ER. Mercy Gilbert ER... here we come! After a few tests and scans it was confirmed that Jay had an appendicitis. They original plan was to admit him for the night and schedule the surgery for in the morning. As luck would have it, the Dr. was already in the middle of one surgery and told the staff to get Jay ready to go, he was next in line. By midnight Jay was prepped and ready for his Appendectomy! 
We are so grateful that the Dr. was there and ready to do Jay's surgery so quickly. As it turns out, his appendix did actually burst, but this wasn't realized until after they were in doing the surgery. Things could have been much worse if he would have waited any longer. By 12noon on Friday Jay was discharged and headed home. He was an A+ patient! He had to take it easy for a while, so we enjoyed his company at home for the 2 weeks before he was able to return to work.
