...Lose my Mind and find my Soul
I think our family might have found "our spot" in Ketchikan today. It is a beautiful place called Settlers Cove. It's a day use/campground on the north end of the Island. It is an absolutely beautiful rain forest on the edge of the ocean. It has an awesome walking trail with a waterfall overlook (we didn't even make it to that part yet) and lots of trails down to the water. When we arrived there today it was low tide, which created tide pools for us to explore. We saw a jellyfish that had been washed up on shore and we watched salmon swimming upstream from the ocean! Jake, Jessie, and Jay were even able to reach down and catch several of them by hand! (Watch the videos at the end!) We watched a Bald Eagle swoop down and grab a fish from the water. We watched seals playing in the water not far off the beach. The seagulls were all enjoying the rainy day and eating fish. We were waiting to see a whale jump in the water... maybe next time! Just being in these surroundings is so relaxing and quiet and brings so much peace to my soul.
