First Day of School
There was no time to waste! School in Ketchikan actually started yesterday (Thursday), but we were still on the ferry. Since we had a shower in our cabin on the ship the girls were able to get ready for school just before we arrived in the port. We literally drove from the ferry terminal to the school! We were able to walk the girls into the school and meet their teachers. Many of them already knew who we were and that I would be working at the school. The girls were nervous and excited and scared. They forced a smile for their "1st day of school" pictures, but I was waiting for Jayne to throw up on her way to class with how pale she was. We were so thrilled to pick them up at the end of the school day and see HUGE genuine smiles on their sweet faces. They loved their teachers. They already made friends in their classes. They had a blast at recess. They learned they do NOT like school chicken nuggets. 😂 They can't wait to go back on Monday! ❤Jessie is in 6th grade ❤Jayne is in 4th grade
Putting them in public school was really hard for me. Jessie went to public school for Kindergarten, but other than that the girls have not ever been in public school. I have enjoyed teaching them at home so much! They asked to give public school a try and we felt like it was a good opportunity for them to meet some new people in our new town. So here we go!
